Konqueror/Embedded - ROAD Edition

The ROAD edition features Konqueror/Embedded enhanced by the following functions:

new layout based on user workflow and usability considerations
optimized for display size 640x240
special tab and search modes
full xbel compatible bookmark manager
file download
focus on security
web engine enhancements for embedded usage:
- zooming of full page including images
- deferred image loading for immidiate availability of text: renders text before images are loaded
backport to Qt2 and Qtopia 2.1
intensive testing on x86 and ARM processors including platform-specific bugfixes and optimizations

Being based on the webengine of KDE 3.5.7, Konqueror/Embedded ROAD Edition also supports:

HTML 4.01 compliance
ECMAscript 262 support (JavaScript)
AJAX
Cascading Style Sheets: CSS 1, CSS 2.1(paged media only partially supported), CSS 3 Selectors, CSS 3 other (partial)
DOM1, DOM2 and partially DOM3 support in ECMAScript and native C++ bindings.
SSL support (requires OpenSSL).
Javascript host extensions
components (Konqueror browser extensions)

The ROAD edition is available in KDE's SVN repository as well as seperate releases. Supported platforms are Qt3, Qt2 and Qtopia on Linux.

The ROAD edition was implemented by order of ROAD GmbH, for the new S101 device.

Releases

The source code of the ROAD edition was developed as part of the normal community development process. It's source code is available from KDE's SVN: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/kdenox/ using the configure option --with-gui=road.

The current release have been tested with the following software versions:

Qt/E 2.3.12 with mt and rtti support
Qtopia 2.2.0
